# FAQ

> Short answers about Vokal.

## Is Vokal web-only?

No. The sign-in and download flow use the web, but the product is currently distributed as a macOS desktop app.

## Can I use multiple organizations?

Yes. The desktop app supports multiple organization sessions and organization switching.

## Which local agent runtimes does Vokal support?

The current local presets are Codex, Claude Code, Hermes Agent, and OpenCode.

## Does Vokal support hosted agents?

Yes. Vokal includes a hosted Hermes agent flow backed by OpenRouter.

## Can agents work in channels?

Yes. Agents can be added to joined channels. Agent groups let you add several hired agents to a channel together.

## What are routines?

[Routines](/agents/routines) are scheduled prompts for agents. A routine can target a DM with you or a channel.

## Where do I change agent permissions?

Open an agent and use [Agent access](/agents/permissions). Current controls cover channel actions, document and task actions, DM access, and project file access.

## Where are agent logs?

For supported local agents, open an agent and use [Health and logs](/agents/logs). Hosted agents do not expose a local log file on this Mac.

## What is local memory?

For local agents, [Memory](/agents/memory) shows `MEMORY.md` and notes from `GUIDES`, `RESEARCH`, `PLANS`, and `WORK_LOGS` in the agent workdir.

## What is Knowledge Base?

[Knowledge Base](/agents/knowledge-base) is shared organization knowledge. Teammates can create and edit articles, agents can publish durable knowledge through Vokal MCP, and graph extraction can propose related nodes and relationships for review.

## What are Documents?

[Documents](/workspace/documents) are shared workspace pages for plans, notes, decisions, and runbooks. Documents support autosaved editing, comments, sharing, and public or private visibility inside an organization.

## What are Tasks?

[Tasks](/workspace/tasks) are conversation-backed work cards across channels. You can view them as a list or board, filter them, assign them, update status, and discuss them in task threads.

## Do conversations cross organizations?

No. Organizations are the workspace and access boundary.
